Over the summer he got slammed for making anti-gay remarks during a stand-up comedy gig in Nashville, and Tracy Morgan went out of his way to apologize to the gay community soon thereafter.

But during his interview on “The Late Show with David Letterman,” the “30 Rock” stud made it sound like the whole ordeal was a “big misunderstanding.”

When pressed by Letterman to recall what he’d actually said during the incident, Tracy replied, “I can’t remember... that was maybe 50 shows ago.”

However, immediately after the stand-up show in June, Morgan sounded a lot more sincere, telling press, “I want to apologize to my fans and the gay & lesbian community for my choice of words at my recent stand-up act in Nashville… this clearly went too far and was not funny in any context. I want to apologize to my friends, my family and my fans, and everyone in every community who was offended… From the bottom of my heart… I apologize.”
