Speculation as to whether Michael Jackson would be making an appearance on hit tv show 'American Idol' seems to have been put to rest.

The rumors started a few weeks ago, after Robin Leach reported in his Luxe Life blog that the entertainer was meeting with American Idol mastermind Simon Fuller in Las Vegas to discuss his comeback strategy.

Jackson denied these claims, stating there is "absolutely no truth to the rumor" he would be appearing on the Fox talent competition.

In what comes as the most open comment by Mayer to date, he stated, "She's a lovely woman, and I'm glad to be with her," to Ryan Seacrest on the red carpet.
