He’s just a couple of weeks away from taking over the whole gig, and Jimmy Fallon showed up on “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno” last night (February 3) for some playful banter.

Leno opened up the show by telling the crowd, “Jimmy Fallon is here tonight. He’s not here to talk — he’s helping me pack… You know Jimmy starts as new host of Tonight Show on the 17th – and it would be strange if there was some accident and he was not able to … fulfill his duties as host.”

Once Jimmy arrived on stage, Jay noted, “You were lucky to get out of New York today — huge storm.” Fallon replied, “Yeah. Had to be here. Your last week. This means a lot to me.”

Additionally, during his crowd favorite “Thank You Notes” segment, Jimmy employed a touching song by Leno’s band, asking them, “Hey, what are you guys up to in two weeks?”

Jay quipped, “Oh, they’ll be looking for work! They’re actually washing cars in my garage!”

And after all the ribbing subsided, Fallon sincerely declared that Leno is the “nicest guy in the business.”
