Michael Shannon Named as "Superman: Man of Steel" Villain
Confirming previous rumors, Michael Shannon has been selected to play a villainous role in director Zack Snyder’s "Superman: Man of Steel".
The 36-year-old actor has nabbed the character of General Zod, who will face off against Henry Cavill's Superman in the much-awaited Warner Bros. picture.
Talking about the role, Snyder told press, "Zod is not only one of Superman's most formidable enemies, but one of the most significant because he has insights into Superman that others don't. Michael is a powerful actor who can project both the intelligence and the malice of the character, making him perfect for the role."
Shannon's casting joins him up with current stars announced for the film including Amy Adams as Lois Lane, as well as Diane Lane and Kevin Costner as Martha and Jonathan Kent.
