Ryan Reynolds Hits the Weights, Gets More Work
Keeping in shape for his workout-intense role, Ryan Reynolds was spotted hitting the weights during a day off from the re-shoots for the movie "X-Men Origins: Wolverine".
Immersed as he pumped iron in a Vancouver gym, the "Van Wilder" star was at first meant to have a "cameo" in the film - but recent reports indicate that his role is being expanded.
"Most of the footage shot included Reynolds and Wolverine himself, Hugh Jackman,” insiders tell, adding that this "implies that at least some of the re-shoots went to doing significant character work."
In the film, Ryan plays a character called Deadpool, with Wikipedia telling of the character: "Like the X-Men’s Wolverine, Deadpool is the product of the Canadian government’s paramilitary Weapon X program, although his place of birth is unknown. After Weapon X cured his terminal cancer by implementing a regenerative ‘healing factor’ extracted from Wolverine, Deadpool is left disfigured and mentally unstable.” Reynolds is reportedly obsessed with the character, hoping for a spin-off based on the success of Wolverine. While publicity photos have shown Reynolds portraying Deadpool sans-iconic mask, it’s already been hinted that the Wolverine film will somehow depict his disfigurement."
