Randy Travis: "Awake and Alert" after Stroke
After suffering a serious stroke on July 7th, Randy Travis is "awake and alert," according to Dr. Gary Erwin.
Just a few days earlier, the country crooner's condition had stabilized after suffering from presumptive cardiomyopathy and congestive heart failure.
On the road to recovery, Dr. Erwin says the 54-year-old is "interacting with his family and friends and beginning to start doing some early physical therapy."
Unfortunately, Randy is expected to remain in the hospital for two or three weeks as he's still breathing with the help of a ventilator.
Meanwhile, Mr. Travis's fiancée Mary Davis thanked those for "the outpouring of love and affection that has shown up at the hospital and at home, and through several different avenues of support. Those are prayers that have helped mend his heart."
