After being arrested back in September for causing more than $5000 in damage to a home they once owned in Santa Barbara, CA, Randyand Evi Quaid were recently rejected to seek extradition by U.S. officials.
According to the New York Daily News, authorities in Santa Barbara have sought the couple's return for months.
Giving thanks for its refugee system, Randy Quaid is now claiming if it weren’t for Canada, he and his wife would be dead.
On Tuesday morning (November 23), the Cousin Eddie actor made that claim as he entered his immigration and refugee board hearing in Vancouver - where he and wife Evi were picked up last month for an outstanding US warrant.
They were scheduled for a court appearance in Santa Barbara earlier today (November 2) and neither Randy Quaid nor wife Evi showed up to hear their felony vandalism charges for damaging a guesthouse they used to own.
According to Radar Online, Judge Donna Geck issued a bench warrant for the arrest of Evi, but not for Randy.
Sitting down with “Good Morning America,” Randy Quaid and his wife Evi have taken the TV opportunity to open about their fears.
The "Cousin Eddy" actor and his bride, who are due in court in California on Tuesday, expressed their biggest fear and told how they are being pursued by a mysterious and deadly group of celebrity-extorting assassins.
They're no doubt quite the peculiar pair, and now Randy Quaid and his wife Evi have claimed to be worried for their lives as they seek asylum in Canada.
The twosome - who were nabbed by authorities in an upscale Vancouver neighborhood this past week - are currently free on bond as they're scheduled to appear before officials on October 28th.
They've definitely had their fair share of difficulties with the law, and now Randy Quaid and wife Evi have been arrested by police in Canada.
The detainment comes after the couple skipped town upon deciding to leave California rather than go to court for an outstanding warrant stemming from a felony burglary charge.
