“World’s Fastest Man” Usain Bolt Scores Olympic Record
While the 2012 London Olympic Games has been filled with amazing displays of athleticism all the way around, the men’s 100-meter dash was a highlight thanks to Usain Bolt.
The 25-year-old Jamaican sprinter set an Olympic record of 9.63 seconds which was also the second-fastest time ever, just behind his own 2009 world record of 9.58.
Meanwhile, Usain’s teammate Yhoan Blake came in second at 9.75 seconds, though he beat Bolt in the Jamaican Olympic trials.
The race was also the fastest in the history of the games, given that seven of the eight competitors finished within the 10-second range.
