Shia LaBeouf Talks Dropping Acid for “Charlie Countryman” Gig

He has always been fiercely dedicated to his craft, and Shia LaBeouf took LSD to prepare for his role in “The Necessary Death of Charlie Countryman,” also starring Evan Rachel Wood.

The “Constantine” actor told MTV that his rationale for ingesting the psychedelic drug was twofold- to relate to his character and to quell his nerves.

Hoping to create buzz for their new film, Shia LaBeouf and Evan Rachel Wood attended the screening of "The Necessary Death of Charlie Countryman" at the Sundance Film Festival on Monday (January 21).

In the movie, the "Transformers" star portrays the title character, who falls for a woman (played by the "True Blood" beauty) who's claimed by a violent crime boss.
