Lady Gaga Opens the MTV Video Music Awards to "Applause"
Setting the tone for the action-packed spectacular, the 27-year-old pop star proved she is back and better than ever as she took over the stage in a plain white number, which she quickly shed for a sparkly black jumpsuit and then again for a barely there bikini.
Speaking to Z-100 about the event, the "Born This Way" singer shared, "I am opening the show. Well, yes, I'm dancing and what you see in the video is where I am now with my body. I'm dancing 'til my feet bleed every day to make sure I give the fans a performance that they won't forget."
Given that this is the first year the VMAs have invaded Brooklyn, there’s a whole new energy in the air, and fans can hardly wait to find out who wins the coveted Video of the Year moonman.
The contenders are Macklemore & Ryan Lewis for “Thrift Shop,” Bruno Mars for “Locked Out of Heaven,” Taylor Swift for “I Knew You Were Trouble,” Robin Thicke for “Blurred Lines” and Justin Timberlake for “Mirrors.”
