Box Office: "The Croods" Grabs #1 Spot

Animation reigned at the box office this weekend, with "The Croods" taking top honors at theaters for March 22-24, 2013.
The Ryan Reynolds- and Emma Stone-voiced tale of the world's first prehistoric family grabbed $11.6 million on Friday and a $44 million freshman weekend.
Sliding into the second spot was the new Gerard Butler thriller, "Olympus Has Fallen" with a $10 million opening Friday and a $30.8 million total.
Rounding out the top five in earmarked earnings are the James Franco-fronted "Oz: The Great and Powerful" ($23 million) in third, Halle Berry's "The Call" ($9.1 million) in fourth, and newcomer "Admission" ($6.6 million) in fifth.
