In what's an unexpected and unfortunate occurrence, Academy Award-winning actor Morgan Freeman was involved in a serious car accident in Mississippi on Sunday night (August 3).

According to breaking press reports, "The Dark Knight" star was said to be traveling with an unnamed female passenger just north of the small town of Ruleville at around 11.30pm local time when the crash occurred - with no other vehicles involved besides his own.
