Meryl Streep Wrote Emma Thompson a Heartfelt Letter After Oscar Snub
"I wrote her a long, heartfelt email saying how bad I felt," Miss Streep explained. "And she wrote me back and said, 'Good.'"
Ellen also went on to point out the Oscars snubbed Tom Hanks for his performance in the film as well, which made Meryl state there were "a lot of surprises and injustices" in Thursday's (January 16) nominations.
Despite her past Oscar nominations, the 64-year-old actress also declared that she was extremely surprised with this year's nomination and even said she was "old news" and even the newspapers thought she didn't stand a chance.
Miss DeGeneres then replied, "You have to be able to back away and go, 'I'm good, but that was great.'"
