Maura Tierney Talks Breast Cancer Battle

Like many women her age, Maura Tierney found herself on the receiving end of a breast cancer diagnosis, and thankfully she caught it early.

The “ER” actress told press, "I was so, so scared of going to the doctor. I felt something, and my boyfriend at the time made me go. He said, 'You've got to take care of this,' because I was afraid. That's the one thing I will say: Don't be afraid to go to the damn doctor. Just go!"

The former “ER” actress was forced to ditch her “Parenthood” role when she fell ill, but she’s bounced back with a spot on FX Network’s “Rescue Me.”

Maura Tierney: Set to Have Surgery

Earlier in the month we learned her show “Parenthood” was pushed back due to medical reasons, and now it’s being reported that Maura Tierney has found a tumor in her breast.

The Dr. Abby Lockhart actress on NBC's “ER” star tells Us magazine, “I have discovered a tumor in my breast which requires surgery. I will not know either my exact diagnosis or course of treatment until that surgery is performed.”
