Golden Globe Nominations Announced
As award season draws closer, the nominations for the 2010 Golden Globe Awards were announced by Justin Timberlake, Diane Kruger and John Krasinski this morning in Beverly Hills, California.
And leading the way with six nods is the recession-era flick “Up in the Air,” including Best Drama and acting honors for Anna Kendrick, Vera Farmiga, and of course George Clooney.
Other Best Drama picks were “Avatar,” “The Hurt Locker,” “Inglourious Basterds,” and “Precious: Based on the Novel ‘Push’ by Sapphire.”
Also in the running for some hardware is “Nine” with a mention in the Best Musical or Comedy category as well as nods for Penelope Cruz, Marion Cotillard, and Daniel Day-Lewis.
But “Nine” will have some fierce competition in the Best Musical or Comedy realm as “(500) Days of Summer,” “The Hangover,” “It’s Complicated,” and “Julie & Julia” are all up for the award.
Emily Blunt scored a nod for her work in “The Young Victoria,” as did Sandra Bullock for both “The Blind Side,” and “The Proposal.” Meanwhile Tobey Maguire was recognized for his role in “Brothers,” while Morgan Freeman is up for a trophy thanks to “Invictus.”
The Golden Globe Awards will be doled out on January 17th, 2010 with Ricky Gervais handling the hosting duties at the Beverly Hilton Hotel.
