It seems Jennifer Lawrence is one step closer to landing her next big screen role after The Weinstein Company announced Monday (August 6) they will finance and distribute "The Ends of the Earth."

Although a director has yet to be named, "The Hunger Games" actress has been in talks to star in the film, which is said to be a controversial love story based on the true story behind oil tycoons Ernest and Lydie Marland.

The 21-year-old actress will play Lydie Marland, the adopted daughter of Ernest who she ends up marrying and encouraging to raise worker wages and provide healthcare before he loses his company and most of his wealth.

When making the announcement earlier today, The Weinstein Company's co-chairman Harvey Weinstein gushed, "I'm not sure that anything resonates more with an audience than a true story. Jennifer Lawrence shows the skill of a seasoned veteran in everything she does, and we're thrilled to work with her again."

Miss Lawrence is preparing to start production for her "Hunger Games" sequel "Catching Fire," which will open in theaters on November 22, 2013.
