Jennifer Lawrence & Gary Ross Team for “East of Eden,” Look Ahead to “Burial Rites”
They make a killer actor-director team, and Jennifer Lawrence and Gary Ross have both signed contracts to work on a new version of John Steinbeck’s “East of Eden.”
According to Deadline, the “American Hustle” starlet and the “Pleasantville” director will bring back their winning “Hunger Games” chemistry for a two-part reboot of the classic flick, based on the story of Cain and Abel.
And when the “East of Eden” gig is done, Jennifer and Gary will begin work on an adaptation of the recently-published “Burial Rites.”
Per the synopsis, “In northern Iceland, 1829, Agnes Magnúsdóttir is condemned to death for her part in the brutal murder of two men. Agnes is sent to wait out the time leading to her execution on the farm of District Officer Jón Jónsson, his wife and their two daughters. Horrified to have a convicted murderess in their midst, the family avoids speaking with Agnes.”
