The MTV Australia Video Music Awards took place in Sydney, Austalia last night (April 29), with American acts stealing the show.

Punk rockers 30 Seconds to Mars came up big, with The Kill being named Video of the Year and Best Rock Video. The Jared Leto led band beat out the likes of Australian bands Wolfmother's Joker and the Thief, as well as Christina Aguilera, Eskimo Joe, and Jet.

"Thank you so much for the warm love Down Under. We plan on coming here again and again and again," Leto told the crowd.

US rocker Pink was the other big winner at the event, picking up the Best Female Artist and Download of the Year awards.

Disappointments included Justin Timberlake, who had the most nominations, but walked away with only one award - Best Hook Up, for his collaboration with music producer Timbaland on SexyBack.

A final point of interest surrounded rap star Snoop Dogg, who was refused admission to Australia on character grounds last week.

His That's That clip in conjunction with R Kelly was named Best Hip Hop Video ahead of rivals including Australian act Hilltop Hoods, making for some sweet revenge for Snoop.
