"Insidious: Chapter 2" Scares Up a Big Box Office Win
Movie fans looking for a good scare sent "Insidious: Chapter 2" to the top of the box office for the weekend of September 13-15, 2013.
The horror film starring Rose Byrne nabbed $20.1 million for its first day in theaters and wound up with a total take of $41 million.
Another new-comer, "The Family," grabbed the second spot with an opening day of $5.3 million and a three day total of $13.9 million.
Rounding out the top five in earmarked earnings are the Vin Diesel action flick "Riddick" ($6.5 million) in third, Lee Daniels' "The Butler" ($5.5 million) in fourth, and the Jennifer Aniston and Jason Sudeikis' comedy "We're the Millers" ($5.4 million) in fifth.
