Getting a healthy start as it opened in theaters on Friday, the family comedy film "Hop" never looked back en route to topping the box office over the weekend of April 1-3, 2011.
The bunny-based picture starring Russell Brand and James Marsden did well for itself while pulling in an estimated $38.1 million in ticket sales.
As for the competition, the Jake Gyllenhaal driven action movie "Source Code" narrowly took second place by pulling in earnings of approximately $15 million during its first three days on release.
Rounding out the top five at the box office were the James Wan directed horror flick "Insidious" ($13.5 million), followed by "Diary Of A Wimpy Kid 2" ($10.2 million) and "Limitless" ($9.4 million).
