"The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug" Wins Holiday Box Office

Making it three in a row,"The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug" once again took top honors at the box office for the Christmas holiday of December 25-29, 2013.

The fantasy adventure, which boasts a cast that includes Orlando Bloom nabbed a five day total take of $49.3 million.

After falling to third place last week, Disney's animated adventure "Frozen" will regain second place with an estimated $43.7 million.

Rounding out the top five in earmarked earnings are "Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues" starring Will Ferrell ($35.7 million) in third, Leonardo DiCaprio'snewcomer "The Wolf of Wall Street" ($34.3 million) in fourth, and American Hustle" starring Jennifer Lawrence ($33.3 million) in fifth.
