"Glee" Delays Season 5 Premiere In Light of Cory Monteith's Death
Due to the sudden and unexpected death of their castmate Cory Monteith, Fox has decided to delay the production and premiere date for season five of "Glee."
In a statement from the network that was released on Friday (July 19), show execs explain, "In light of the tragic passing of beloved GLEE cast member Cory Monteith, the series’ executive producers, 20th Century Fox Television and Fox Broadcasting Company have jointly decided to delay the start of production of GLEE until early August.”
The changes in production start time will also mean that the premiere date will be pushed back one week, from September 19 to September 26.
Though Fox has decided to go on with the next season, it is still undetermined how writers will work the storyline around Monteith’s passing.
