While his condition has stabilized, the mystery surrounding Gavin DeGraw's brutal New York City beating still is just that - a mystery.

The "I Don't Want To Be" singer took to Twitter for the first time after being released from the hospital today (August 9), writing, “Hi my friends. Honestly, I don’t remember much. I only know I can recover from here. Thank u all for your genuine concern. I love u guys.”

According to various reports, DeGraw was walking home alone when he was jumped by a group of males somewhere between 3:50 and 4:20 Monday morning at the corner of First Avenue and East 6th Street.

After incurring an array of injuries from the attack, a dazed and confused Gavin made it 13 miles up the road before being hit by a taxi cab.

After an onlooker called police, the 34-year-old was transported to nearby Bellevue Hospital, where his reps told TMZ he was being treated for a multitude of ailments, including a a concussion, broken nose, black eyes, cuts and bruises.

While talking with The Hollywood Reporter, authorities confirmed that the assailants were indeed male, but that is the only description they currently have, as DeGraw is having a hard time recollecting the incident.

Offering up a statement, his rep told TMZ, "Police are conducting an investigation of the attack. Gavin and his family appreciate everyone's concern at this time. We have no information yet regarding his upcoming concert dates and promotion for his new album."

While he continues the road to recovery, DeGraw has canceled his performance scheduled for tonight with Train and Maroon 5, as Nikkie Jean has been called in as his replacement - there is no word on whether he'll rejoin the tour for its next stop on August 9.
