Washington DC was the place to be yesterday as Barack Obama was sworn in as the 44th President of the United States. And Courteney Cox and David Arquette took part in the post-inaugural celebrations last night (January 20).

The former “Friends” star and her “Scream” husband looked fabulous as they arrived at the RIAA Inaugural Ball, both sporting black ensembles and smiling for the paparazzi.

The “Always Be My Baby” singer donned a gorgeous black velvet floor-length gown and sang into a rhinestone-encrusted microphone (with matching mic stand) much to the delight of the audience.

It has been building up for weeks now, and last night Barack Obama and his wife Michelle had their first dance as President and First Lady.

Following an amazing Inauguration Day, the new President of the United States donned a black tuxedo with a white bowtie and escorted his wife (in a one-shoulder frilly cream-colored dress) out to the dance floor.

After an introduction from actor Denzel Washington, Barack took over the mic for an impromptu speech, saying, "First of all, how good looking is my wife?"

At 12:05pm EST today (January 20th) Barack Obama was sworn in as the 44th President of the United States, an event of massive historical significance.

The 47-year-old President was joined by his wife Michelle for the event at which Rick Warren, pastor of Saddleback Church, gave the invocation. Aretha Franklin gave a rousing performance of “My Country ‘Tis of Thee” and Joe Biden was sworn in just prior to Obama’s oath of office.
