Ellie Goulding’s Y100 Miami Interview: Watch Now!
She’s quickly becoming the next big British artist here in the States, and Ellie Goulding was lovely enough to give an exclusive interview to Y100 Miami this morning (September 18).
The “Lights” songstress sang her new hit single “Anything Can Happen” before chatting about her experience as a performer at Prince William and Kate Middleton’s Royal Wedding last year.
When asked how she scored the gig, Ellie explained, “I just got a phone call, a random phone call once. I just had a feeling it was something ridiculous. And then I just kept it secret for months… all to myself. It was hard, it was really hard.”
And part of the deal involved Goulding keeping everything under wraps. “None of us really knew what was going on exactly. Whenever people were talking about who was going to play at the wedding I just really had to [hold my tongue] and not say anything.”
Unlike the UK, Ellie enjoys a fair amount of anonymity when she travels here in the USA. “I feel like people don’t really know what I look like here. I’d say in places like NYC and LA I do get recognized, but that’s it.”
As for her guilty pleasure, Goulding loves to watch the UK version of “Jersey Shore” called “Geordie Shore.” “It’s like escapism for me. When I get home I’ll probably watch ‘Geordie Shore’ on my television. It’s even more extreme. They just go get tans, go to the gym, go out drinking… they get ‘mortal’ and that’s basically all they do. I think my friends think I’m a bit weird.”
The “Starry-Eyed” songstress is also gearing up for the release of her new track “Explosions” (September 30th) ahead of the October 9th street date for her new album Halcyon.
