Will Smith Turned Down Role in "Django Unchained"

With his critical and box office success, Will Smith can afford to be picky about his roles, even when Quentin Tarantino comes knocking at his door.

In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, the "Independence Day" star revelaed that he turned down Jamie Foxx's role because, "Django wasn’t the lead, so it was like, I need to be the lead. The other character was the lead!"

Taking care of some international promotional duties, Leonardo DiCaprio showed up at the premiere of “Django Unchained” in Seoul, South Korea today (March 7).

“Skyfall” Scores Six Empire Nominations

Given that it’s the biggest James Bond 007 film of all time, it’s only fitting that “Skyfall” has been nominated for six trophies at the upcoming Empire Awards.

The British spy flick will compete for Best Film, while stars Daniel Craig and Judi Dench are up for Best Actor and Best Actress, respectively. Additionally, Sam Mendes snagged a nod for Best Director.

There’s been no lack of publicity for Quentin Tarantino's latest film “Django Unchained,” and all of that hype has translated to massive ticket sales.

According to a report, the “Pulp Fiction” mastermind’s slavery-themed opus is right around $130 million in earnings, topping the $120 million total for “Inglourious Basterds.”
