“Mary Poppins” Stars Julie Andrews & Dick Van Dyke Reunite at “Saving Mr. Banks” Premiere
Almost a half century ago, they starred together in “Mary Poppins,” and last night (December 9) Julie Andrews and Dick Van Dyke got to reconnect at the Hollywood premiere of the new flick “Saving Mr. Banks.”
The “Sound of Music” actress and the “Chitty Chitty Bang Bang” star both showed up to see the new Walt Disney film, based on the making of their iconic flick.
And both Dick (87) and Julie (78) were overjoyed to see each other, given the strong bond they developed way back in the day.
Of the 50th anniversary of “Mary Poppins,” Andrews previously told “Today’s” Matt Lauer, "It's mind boggling. I cannot believe it's been 50 years since then. I've lost about 20 years somewhere. You always set a bar for yourself that's high."
“People are so lovely and you want to give them pleasure. You do the best you can. You hope that any movie you do is something people will enjoy and love to see."
