David Letterman Extortioner Pleads Not Guilty

Ready to fight charges in court, CBS producer Joe Halderman entered a not guilty plea to charges of trying to extort $2 million from David Letterman.

The 52-year-old Halderman showed up in handcuffs at a Manhattan courthouse this afternoon after he threatened Letterman about going public with personal information regarding the talk show host's sexual relations with an employee.

As previously reported, David Letterman announced last night on “The Late Show” that he’d been the victim of a $2 million extortion scheme. And this morning new details about the case have emerged.

According to a report, the culprit is CBS News producer Robert “Joe” Halderman, who has been arrested and charged with attempted grand larceny.
