David Beckham: Fan Favorite in Beijing
Showing some love to his Chinese fans, David Beckham attended a Grassroots Junior Soccer promotional event in Beijing today (March 20).
The Paris Saint-Germain star received a warm welcome from the students at No. 2 High School as he hammed it up with the press and posed for pictures.
Becks is in Beijing as China’s first global soccer ambassador and he’ll spend four days on a whistle-stop tour across the country.
David’s role will help to drum up interest in the Chinese Super League in China and around the world following the recent match-fixing scandals.
He told press, "This is a significant year in Chinese football history as we usher in 20 years of developing this sport professionally and mark the 10-year milestone of the Chinese Super League - which today reaches 300 million television viewers and 4.49 million spectators annually."
