“Cloud Atlas” Gets Butchered for Chinese Market

While pretty much anything goes here in America when it comes to movies, the Chinese government is much more strict and they’ve demanded massive edits to “Cloud Atlas” before it hits theaters in the communist country.

Originally a 172-minute production, the newly-revised edition of the Halle Berry and Tom Hanks flick will now run 134 minutes, having lost both gay and straight love scenes.

Earlier today (January 10) the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced their nominations for the 2013 Academy Awards, and though there were plenty of deserving recipients, other supposed shoo-ins ended up getting the shaft.

Though he was widely praised for his role in “Django Unchained,” Leonardo DiCaprio failed to snag a Best Supporting Actor nod.

Showing some love to their German fans, Halle Berry and Tom Hanks showed up at the European premiere of “Cloud Atlas” in Berlin today (November 5).

The “Cast Away” hunk proudly donned a mustache with a black jacket/black trousers combo as he hammed it up for the shutterbugs at the CineStar Potsdamer Platz venue.

The 46-year-old actress was sexy and stunning in thigh-high lace up boots, a loose tunic, and leather leggings, as she posed for photographs before heading inside the Ukraina Hotel for the event.

The 46-year-old actress looked smokin' in a black leather and semi-sheer dress with pointy heels as she happily signed autographs for fans waiting outside in the cold.

The Ben Affleck starring/directed thriller - which is about Tony Mendez's account of the rescue of six U.S. diplomats during the 1979 Iran hostage crisis - garnered estimated sales of $3.9 million on Friday with a $13.2 million projected take during its third weekend of release.
