Charlie Hunnam Quits "Fifty Shades of Grey"
Only announced in September as the leading man cast to play Christian Grey in Sam Taylor-Johnson’s adaptation of E.L. James’ national bestseller, Charlie Hunnam dropped the role, reportedly due to schedule complications.
Universal Studios released a statement on today (October 11), saying, “The filmmakers of Fifty Shades of Grey and Charlie Hunnam have agreed to find another male lead given Hunnam’s immersive TV schedule which is not allowing him time to adequately prepare for the role of Christian Grey.”
The 33-year-old “Sons of Anarchy” star is still working on movies “Triple Nine” and “Crimson Peak,” each currently in pre-production, and set to premiere in 2015.
In related news, “21 Jump Street’s” Dakota Johnson is cast to play “Fifty Shades”’ Anastasia Steele. Despite complications with Charlie, the romance flick is still schedule for release in 2014.
