Narrowly avoiding time behind bars, Chad Johnson was sentenced to 12 months probation and a counseling course after agreeing to a plea deal in Fort Lauderdale, Florida on Friday morning (September 21).

The former NFL receiver plead "no contest" to a charge of domestic battery after allegedly head-butting his ex-wife Evelyn Lozada on August 11t. The reported assault occurred during a domestic dispute over a receipt for condoms.

Former NFL star Chad Johnson has filed for divorce from his estranged wife, Evelyn Lozada, today (September 13) nearly one month after she filed for divorce from him.

Johnson cites the the marriage is “irretrievably broken” and is asking a judge to deny Lozada's request that he pay her legal bills.

Just weeks after she was allegedly headbutted by her husband, Evelyn Lozada has opened up about her divorce from Chad Johnson.

In an interview with ABC's "Nightline" on Friday (August 31), the 36-year-old reality star explained that her choice for leaving was for her own safety, explaining, “It’s the hardest thing in the world to walk away from someone that you really love. But you have to walk away because I have to protect myself.”
