Bradley Cooper Reveals Rocky Road to Success

In a revealing interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Bradley Cooper revealed that the road to being "Sexiest Man Alive" wasn't as easy as he makes it look.

Born in 1975, he grew up near Philadelphia with one sister, a stockbroker father, and homemaker mother. With his mother being Italian and father being Irish, Bradley notes, "I'm Catholic in my bones" before adding that he still prays daily.

With a childhood fraught with middle ear issues and a terrible accident involving a glass lamp and plastic surgery, Cooper has his share of scars.

About half a decade before he starred in the raucous comedy "The Hangover," the star of "The Words" gave up drugs and alcohol entirely.

He admits, "I don't drink or do drugs at all anymore. Being sober helps a great deal."

Rock bottom for the 37-year-old actor was a very clear moment. "I was at a party and deliberately bashed my head on the concrete floor -- like, 'Hey, look how tough I am!' And I came up, and blood dripped down. And then I did it again. I spent the night at St. Vincent's Hospital with a sock of ice, waiting for them to stitch me up."

We're glad to see how far he's come. The handsome success story will receive more than $15 million for "Hangover Part III," which begins shooting in September. Watch the video of a behind the scenes look at the Hollywood Reporter photoshoot below.
