Cops Respond to Prank Home Invasion Call at Ashton Kutcher's House
The life of a celebrity includes a lot of attention - both positive and negative. Unfortunately, Ashton Kutcher became a target of some negative attention when police were called to his house for a reported home invasion on Wednesday (October 3).
According to officials, the woman placing the report via teletype claimed she was hiding in a closet in the L.A. house, that "several Russian men with weapons" were in the middle of a heist, and that shots had been fired.
However, when law enforcement officers arrived, they found only maintenance workers and took in three people for questioning.
LAPD Officer Cleon Joseph told KCAL9, "We responded accordingly. We sent resources out, helicopters, the whole works, out to a hostage rescue. When we got here, apparently it wasn't so."
The officer also said that upon arrival, one of Ashton's assistants came out to assure law enforcement that everything was ok, but responders searched the scene anyway.
He continued, "We checked it out and found out, of course, it was a hoax. At the end of the day, we're going to get down to the bottom of it. We're going to get detectives on it. We're going to trace the teletype. Hopefully we can get down to who this person was and bring them to justice as quickly as possible."
After the scare, the 34-year-old actor assured fans via Twitter, "Safe an sound at two and a half men. Don't miss tomorrow night 8:30."
