Angelina Jolie's Surgeon Speaks Out
Her decision to undergo a preventative double mastectomy earlier this year got many people talking, and now, Angelina Jolie's surgeon is speaking about the "Salt" beauty's choice.
In an interview with Los Angeles Magazine, Dr. Kristi Funk says the mother of six "waited to find the perfect timing in her personal and professional life, but I think most importantly in her soul” to go public about the operation.
After losing her beloved mother Marcheline Bertrand to cancer and undergoing genetic testing which showed she was at a high risk of getting breast cancer, Jolie decided to have both breasts removed.
At first, the procedure remained a secret, however, Dr. Funk thinks Angelina's humanitarian spirit is what lead the actress to go public. Said the surgeon,"She knew always that in her philanthropic core she couldn't keep this a secret and be who she is. She always knew."
