Amy Poehler Offers Advice to Improv Comedy Hopefuls
She’s at the top of her game career-wise, and Amy Poehler wants to help the next generation of comedians succeed in spite of her own snafus.
During a mock press conference at the Upright Citizens Brigade’s Del Close Improv marathon in New York City, the “Parks and Recreation” star shared some tips she’s learned over the years.
Poehler declared, “Drinking is good. Smoking pot is not great for improve. But drinking can be okay, a little bit.”
Serving to clarify her marijuana warning, Amy added, "Well, you're just in your head and forget things, and you might get freaked out. Um, some people might; I don't know. So I've heard."
As for what to wear for a great performance, Poehler noted, "I do not improvise in heels. I improvise in sneakers. Why would I improvise in heels? It's terrible."
